I'm Max and I'm privileged to be able to say that I'm El Presidente of UCLMC this year. I've been climbing for around 7 years now, mostly bouldering. Last year I got into lead climbing in a pretty big way and this year you'll find me split berween hitting up Castle or hipstering up one of the cafes around UCL.
Please say hi if you see me and feel free to drop me a message any time with questions, suggestions, or if you fancy a chat! I love getting new people into climbing and I look forward to fostering our group and seeing all the new and old faces this year brings!
Haven’t you heard? I’m Claude, and I am this year’s treasurer. I have been climbing trees for as long as I can remember, but I haven’t got onto rock until a couple of years ago, where I started bouldering the cliffs near my family home in Cornwall. Due to my height, my preferable style of climbing is big holds and big reaches. My other hobbies are playing piano, painting and archery.
There are three things I love in life: climbing, food and medicine (notice how medicine comes in last place!) I started climbing 6 years ago and haven’t stopped since (even took a 2-hour bus journey to the nearest climbing wall while in China). I’m ever-present at the Castle, always up for a climb, as well as willing to provide advice and chat to climbers of all levels. For those of you who know the lingo, I mainly boulder with the occasional dabble in leading. I’m overjoyed to be team captain this year, hoping to smash some competitions! The UCL team usually enter BUCS and LUBE competitions every year with a whole range of abilities competing at both events. Let me know if you’re interested in competing!
My name's Ryan and I'm a 3rd year geographer but more importantly your vice team captain this year! I've pretty much been obsessed with climbing ever since I started just under 2 years ago and am super psyched to continue training with you all. I'm here to help where I can so please come and say hello if you see me around the Castle. My role this year will be to help Jack organise both training sessions (for all climbers) and the team for the upcoming comps so let us know if you're at all interested at competing. Looking forward to a year of sending(!) and hope to meet you all soon!
Hi, me neim Ilya. Am from Moscow, Mother Russia.
I like climb.
I am going to be your Trip Sec this year and oh boy, will we be tripping. On trips we are going to learn how to solve rubik's cubes, how to trip properly and how to quickly bring Ilya a beer. If you want to find me in the castle, I am probably the loud person in the rainbow hoodie.
Heyo! I’m gear sec for UCLMC, so I make sure that you have all the right equipment for your climbing & mountaineering endeavours. This is my 9th year with the club, so essentially I’m a veteran still on active duty. Many initiations ago I got hooked on climbing, and have since been pursuing it in its various forms - bouldering, sport and trad. I love not only climbing itself, but also the company of a remarkably friendly group of people. When not climbing, I quite like fast bikes, winter sports in any form, and an unlimited supply of liquorice. If you ever find yourself facing life-altering decision about choosing the right climbing shoes, getting a matching chalk-bag, or finding the best deal on a harness, give me a shout and we’ll work something out!
Hey! I'm Chiara and I'll be handling all the newsletters, media stuff and whatnots. I only started climbing last year but I love it (I'm quite miserable at it though, so hit me up if you're new and you'd like a nonthreatening climbing buddy). Other than that, my passion is technical theatre, so if I'm not at the Castle you'll probably find me in some dark auditorium either watching or teching a show.
